Service in action. Community at heart. đź’™

Last week, the ladies of Chi Tau Zeta proudly showed up and served across Loudoun County through two impactful community initiatives.

In partnership with America’s Soup Kitchen, we helped provide meals to those in need, serving with compassion, dignity, and care.

Next, we joined the community in a local cleanup effort to help preserve and beautify our environment. We were especially honored to be joined by the Mayor of Leesburg, reinforcing the importance of community collaboration and civic pride.

From feeding families to caring for our environment, Chi Tau Zeta remains committed to making a meaningful difference...one act of service at a time.

Chi Tau Zeta was proud to step out and show up in the community this past weekend at the “Stride in Strength, Bloom in Service” 5K Walk hosted by the Loudoun County (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. 💙

From movement to meaningful connection, this event was a beautiful reminder of the importance of wellness, service, and community engagement. We enjoyed connecting with neighbors, supporting a powerful cause, and embracing the opportunity to prioritize health, together.

Whether we were walking, laughing, or celebrating at the finish line, one thing was clear: service and sisterhood go hand in hand.

Thank you to The Links, Incorporated for creating such an inspiring and impactful experience!

Today is a reminder, that the story didn’t end at the cross.

What looked like defeat was really the beginning of victory. What felt like an ending was actually a new beginning.

No matter what you’re facing today, remember—God still brings life out of lifeless places, joy out of sorrow, and purpose out of pain.

He is Risen! Happy Resurrection Sunday!

On this Good Friday, we pause in reflection, gratitude, and reverence.

We honor the sacrifice, the love, and the grace that this day represents. May we all be reminded of the power of faith, service, and unwavering purpose. 🙏🏽

As we celebrate Passover, we honor a legacy of freedom, resilience, and faith. As women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, we carry those same values through service, scholarship, sisterhood and finer womanhood-continuing the work of liberation and empowerment in our communities.

Chi Tau Zeta Chapter Spotlight BEAMS on Soror La Donna Stevens Wright…

A proud native of Waco, TX, Soror Stevens Wright’s Zeta journey began on May 5, 1992, when she was initiated into the Tau Beta Chapter, the “PEARL” ( #5). She studied Criminal Justice at Paul Quinn College with a concentration in Policy & Law and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Park University.

She is an avid sports enthusiast, fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and all things BIG 12, but Soror Stevens Wright manages to balance her love for sports with her love for shopping.

Serving as the Secretary of our Chi Tau Zeta Chapter, she ensures everything runs smoothly, with impeccable leadership and organizational ability.

Her favorite Zeta principle is Finer Womanhood as she believes that "finer" is something you embody, something seen in you even when words are not spoken. Soror Wright’s greatest joy is seeing her daughter, her legacy, carry on the Zeta tradition, ensuring the sisterhood thrives for generations.

Her pride in Zeta’s legacy is captured in the words of Triumphant Founder Arizona Cleaver Stemons: "Ya'll still arguing over first this and that", as while many just talk, she does the work.

Thank you, Soror Stevens Wright, for your Zeta light, your unwavering dedication, service, and for exemplifying the true meaning of sisterhood. Your contributions to Chi Tau Zeta and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. are immeasurable. You are the pearl that completes the strand—rare, dependable, and radiant in your authenticity. Our sisterhood is better because of you.

Holding a Bachelor of Science from Virginia State University (Big State), Soror Tasha Powell is employed with the District of Columbia Government, as well a small business owner.

Initiated into the historically second chartered graduate chapter of our illustrious sorority, Beta Zeta in Washington, DC, Soror Powell recently celebrated her 5th year in the Sisterhood on March 6th.

Growing up in Emporia, VA, Soror Powell’s love for singing and playing the piano was captured at a very young age. Of her many talents, which include crocheting and skating, she enjoys hiking, riding motorcycles and traveling the most. Her love for nature and the elements it has to offer has taken a front seat in the last few years which has allowed her to become a practicing herbalist.

Soror Powell serves as the Treasurer for the recently reactivated Chi Tau Zeta Chapter and will ensure the financial stability, compliance with regulations and safeguard the chapter’s assets.

SERVICE is her favorite ZETA principle and her favorite ZETA quote is from Triumphant Founder Viola Tyler Goings which states “Much is expected for whom much had been done.”

Soror Powell, thank you for your ZETA light. Your heart for Zeta is unmatched, and we are excited for the moments we will create together in this great Sisterhood.

We had an amazing time connecting with our Sorors of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority ,Inc. - Psi Omicron Zeta Chapter of Manassas, VA. We came out to support their Fundraising efforts benefiting scholarship through the POZitively Finer Foundation. It was also great to fellowship with our Sorors from the Woodbridge chapter and our Prince William County Sigma Brothers.

Chi Tau Zeta Chapter Spotlight BEAMS on Soror Sarah Simmons

Having just celebrated her 8th Zetaversary, Soror Sarah Simmons was initiated into the Phi Upsilon Zeta Chapter, March 11, 2018.

Hailing from St. Mary's County, Maryland, Soror Simmons currently serves as a Battalion Commander in the United States Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (LTC). She took command of the battalion June 2025, being the FIRST African American Female Officer to lead.

Soror Simmons holds a Master of Business Administration from Franklin University, and enjoys telling jokes, and even loves hearing a good joke every now and again. She is one half of an active Lover’s Stroll and has a Zeta Legacy in the immediate bloodline.

In her limited free time, you will find Soror Simmons participating in acts of service by volunteering, running a mile or two, or attending her children’s activities.

Soror Simmons serves as 1st Vice President and is dedicated to growing the chapter with members who have a desire to honor and uphold the principles of our dynamic Sisterhood. Her favorite Zeta principle is SERVICE and states that “It’s something powerful about helping others without expecting anything in return. Service gives a sense of purpose and pride that lasts far beyond any single event”. Her favorite quote falls in line with her favorite principle, “Service is our sacred duty” by General David L. Goldfein, the 21st Chief of Staff, of the US Air Force.

Soror Simmons your ZETA light shines from state to state. We thank you for your commitment to chapter and for your Service to both Zeta and for our country.
