Get to Know our PhD students in Archaeology!

Hi all! My name is Saylor Fortner, and I’m a first-year PhD student in the Anthropology Department. I have a BA in Archaeology from Mississippi State University and an MA from the University of Louisville. My research interests focus on cultural heritage and materiality within contexts of enslavement in the Southeast, with particular emphasis on how artifacts and landscapes shape memory and community. I will be working with Dr. Jon Marcoux as my advisor.
