Collective liberation starts with self. These past 3 weeks I have been transformed and healed in ways I didn’t think possible. I’ve had my soul and body nourished by the land of my ancestors, my heart restored by purposeful work and community, and my mind expanded by the divine presence surrounding me.

I deserve every moment I have experienced during this work retreat of sorts, and yet I grieve because so do so many other people- MY people especially. We deserve a season of being immersed in this type of loving environment with purposeful healing.

That being said, I would like to invite those of you who are interested in challenging yourself and your community, healing yourself and your community, and loving yourself and every living thing to consider applying for this amazing program that will be starting back up in September. It is open to people ages 18-35 from any location, there is no GPA requirement or fancy bs resume needed to apply, and there is scholarship money being offered to black applicants. It would also just be my absolute honor to guide you as one of your core-facilitators for this revolutionary program. It was so great getting to meet, walk, and talk with Liz from the Autism Society of North Carolina Yesterday! Here are some key takeaways from our conversation:
1. Autism, like many other exceptionalities, is not “one size fits all.” There is a spectrum and many different autistic qualities that differ from person to person.
2. People with exceptionalities are not exempt from experiencing social anxiety or depression. Talk to them and get to know them because they notice just like anyone else when the conversation starts to feel uncomfortable!
3. Always be cognizant of considering someone lesser than you, assuming their intelligence or capabilities, or excluding them from conversation because of an exceptionality that you haven’t experienced. Instead, appreciate the uniqueness that is displayed in each of us in different ways! 💖

Hello everyone! I know ya’ll are tired of these announcements so I’m sorry, but I’m so excited to introduce to you what will be my FAVORITE series Beta Nu Theta puts on this year on and that series is Survivor. So many of us have undergone trauma, mental illness and abuse and wished we had someone during that time that understood and could help. Little did we know that there were people all around us who had overcome the same issues but appeared like they had everything together so we never bothered to ask for help. Here is your chance to give the greatest gift of vulnerability to those who might need it by sharing a testimonial monologue and presenting it to your peers. Survivor will take place once a month (starting next Wednesday at 8 and have up to 8 presenters each week. If you would like to sign up to share your story please fill out this google doc
