Founded in the spring of 1973, the Residence Hall Association represents the concerns of over 9,000 residents before the Administration of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our mission is to directly improve residential life at Carolina through community programs, residence hall enhancements, recognition, and advocacy. By highlighting each of these four pillars in our actions, we ai
m to foster a sense of community and belonging for all students at Carolina. As the third largest student organization on campus, RHA is composed of student volunteers & is separate from Carolina Housing. However, the two entities enjoy a close working relationship and frequently collaborate. RHA operates through our Executive Board, Board of Governors, and our 3 External Boards: Programming Board, Marketing Board, and Collaboration Board. Our Board of Governors is composed of 15 Community Governors, with one per each of Carolina’s 15 residential communities. Each Governor oversees a Community Government (CoGo), the body of students who plan and enact initiatives in their community. BOG meetings are every Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm in the Student Union. At these meetings, Governors deliver reports on the activity in their communities and discuss issues concerning residential life. It is the primary responsibility of Governors to speak and legislate on behalf of the residents in their community. RHA’s Executive Board is comprised of the President, Vice President, Executive Administrative Coordinator, Executive Treasurer, Internal Affairs Officer, External Affairs Officer, National Communications Coordinator (NCC), Chief Enhancements Officer (CEO), Director of Sustainable Projects, Executive Social Justice Advocate, Executive Wellness & Leadership Development Officer (WALDO), and Internal Data Analytics Officer. These officers manage RHA at-large, including campus wide programming initiatives, collaborations with outside organizations, and relationships with the University's Administration. RHA hosts programs all year long, including our annual Silent Disco, the UNC vs. Duke Watch Party, the Multicultural Festival, and fun-filled traditional events in the Spring!
