"Student government has remained at the center of student advocacy for all of its 100 years. I follow the footsteps of giants like Richard Epps, Reyna Walters-Morgan, and Eve Carson, all of whom fought for things like more representation, centralized student advocacy, and more support for student-led initiatives. We have made significant strides over the past few decades to revolutionize our work by inviting our peers from historically marginalized communities to join and lead many of our most critical leadership efforts".

"Last year, when the university was at the heart of a national issue regarding race and academic freedom, it was the leadership of student body president, Lamar Richards, that helped steer the board of trustees to make decisions based on fairness and truth. The Commitment to Carolina Campaign is a great idea. It'll help UNC Student Government continue to lead the way and support the future leaders of our university, as well as our state."
- NC Governor Roy Cooper, Tar Heel alum
