Thanks to funding from the Kathleen Ford Fund, the UNC/NYC Experience is launching its pilot
program, giving UNC students the chance to spend four immersive days in New York City — the beating heart of American theatre.

No matter where your passion lies in the theatre world, this trip is built for you. Beyond that, the small group accepted for the UNC/NYC Experience allows for an incredible amount of personalization. The program coordinator works with your areas of interest and casts a wide net to connect you with a working professional from each of the following categories:

--PERFORMER/WRITER/DIRECTOR

--DESIGNER

--ARTS ADMINISTRATOR

Are you a student playwright? Submit your work to be read in the Department’s ‘New Works Series’ !

If selected, a play will first be read and then—with revisions—be produced for a workshop. Depending on the work and goal of the playwright, certain plays may be further developed for a staged performance.

The submission deadline for the Fall 2026 series is September 18th, 2026. Any work received after the deadline will receive limited consideration.
