Join the UNC Department of Dramatic Art on Monday, November 3rd for a hands-on workshop with Faye Armon-Tronscoso, the first props and sets designer to win an Obie Award! With design experience on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in TV/Film, Faye brings practical knowledge and experience suited to aspiring artists across genres.
In the workshop, participants can expect to explore the art of storytelling through physical objects, working with Faye to create stage or screen ready props. No prior experience is necessary–we only ask that you come inspired and ready to build!
For those interested in learning about Faye’s creative process and career, there will also be a lunch conversation on Tuesday, November 4th. Faye will discuss the numerous productions she has worked on, ranging from musical Fun Home to the award-winning play Bugs. With an NYC theater career spanning back to 1995, students can expect to learn about the evolution of her creative process and progress to supervisory roles. Students are encouraged to bring questions, which will be heard in a moderated Q&A. Food will be provided.
At the lunch conversation, students can also expect to learn about the New York intensive program, which Faye currently hosts. This past spring, Faye brought a group of three undergraduate students to see final technical rehearsals for Purpose, the Tony-award winning play by Brandon Jacob Jenkins. This fall, Faye hosted another group of undergraduate students to see technical rehearsals of Let’s Love at the Atlantic theater.
