SILS Graduate Degrees For SILS alumni, current students, faculty, staff, and prospective students.

The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at UNC-Chapel Hill offers two 48 credit hour master's degrees in both Information Science (IS) and Library Science (LS). Both the MSIS and MSLS degrees are accredited by the American Library Association (ALA). In addition, SILS also offers a Post-Masters Certificate and a Doctor of Philosphy in Information and Library Science. The field of infor

mation and library science is one that crosses many other areas such as education, anthropology, psychology, computer science, and journalism. The study of information and library science focuses on the interaction of information, technology, and people. Having this broad interdisciplinary approach allows us to see how information impacts all fields of science, culture, and human endeavors.

With several key COVID metrics experiencing a drastic increase since the end of June, Orange County will reinstate its indoor countywide mask mandate effective 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
