Sigma Phi Epsilon - NC Delta

Sigma Phi Epsilon - NC Delta The North Carolina Delta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. http://sigepunc.com/

The North Carolina Delta chapter at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was founded on February 26, 1921. Since it’s inception nearly a century ago, SigEp has served as a home away from home for the University’s brightest undergraduate men. Our house, named after NC Delta alumnus, former UNC professor and long-time chapter advisor Dr. Sterling Hennis ’52, occupies a coveted space of Ch

apel Hill real estate, located just west of the Carolina Inn and across the street from Little Fraternity Court. NC Delta alumni can be found in a wide array of professional sectors, both within the Triangle and around the country, and often return to tailgate before UNC Football games. SigEp values a diverse brotherhood, and our members hail from both the Old North State and around the nation. We are committed to academics, and have one of the highest GPA’s within the Interfraternity Council. Brothers pursue a wide range of majors, with strong concentrations in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, and Biology/pre-med. We strive to live by the cardinal principles of Sigma Phi Epsilon: Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. It is these principles that also drive us to give back; since 1982 we have hosted Slugfest, an all-day philanthropy event benefitting local charities. We also co-host the annual Oyster Roast with Litter Fraternity Court, to benefit the American Cancer Society. Active brothers are involved in a great number of extracurriculars on campus, including UNC Student Congress, Students for Educational Reform, Carolina Athletic Association, UNC Admission Ambassadors, College Republicans, AIESEC, The Daily Tar Heel, The Daily Tar Heel Board of Directors, Tar Heel Beginnings Board, UNC Pre-Dental Honor Society, the Federal Reserve Challenge, Carolina Peer Mentors, Carolina Economics Club, Catalyst Conference, UNC Finance Society, The Odyssey newspaper, The Hill Political Review, Senior Marshals, and the Scholars Latino Initiative.

Check out NC Delta Dr. Sterling Hennis in today's DTH! Dr. Hennis, an avid collector of pop-up books, spoke to the School of Information and Library Science about the art and history of "moveable books."

When the members of Sigma Phi Epsilon visit their faculty advisor Sterling Hennis at his home, he says they’re amazed at his collection of 1,400 pop-up books.
