Global Gap Year at UNC-Chapel Hill GGYF at UNC-Chapel Hill is the first college-sponsored gap year program that allows students to design their own gap year experience volunteering abroad.

Allyson is a Bridge Year fellow from Naples, Florida. She completed her sophomore year at UNC where she studies Public Policy and Geography. Allyson is involved with Carolina Public Humanities and the Daily Tar Heel. Allyson is passionate about education equity, a passion she has gotten to explore as a teacher in Nepal for the past four months! Our current gapper Oscar will be doing an Instagram takeover tomorrow, Saturday 11/15! Oscar is from Burnsville, NC where he played varsity soccer and tennis and was involved in a variety of service projects. He has also worked as a carpenter’s apprentice at a small eco-focused woodworking company helping to rebuild and renovate homes destroyed by Hurricane Helen in 2024. Oscar will be giving us a glimpse into his life in Sicily!

We had an awesome time at our 2024-25 cohort re-entry retreat in Morehead City last weekend! We partnered with to reflect on our gap years and support each other as we relaunch into college. We also had loads of fun on a boat tour, at the beach, and strolling historic Beaufort. This weekend was a meaningful ending to a really special year!
