Join us this Wednesday evening at 5:30 for a PPE Speaker Series event titled, “On the Value of Bipartisanship”: An Evening with Dr. Ben Chavis and Governor Pat McCrory. The focus of this event series is to attract and educate curious minds on today's top issues.

This event is from 5:30-7:30 pm this Wednesday, February 8th. It is free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served.

Our speakers, who hold opposing views on many political issues, have come together out of a shared concern of the dangers posed by partisanship in U.S. politics. This evening they will talk a bit about the risks of partisanship and the value of bipartisanship.

Meet Mary Maclean Asbill '89. Asbill is a UNC alumna, active member of the Carolina Women's Leadership Council, and proud Carolina Parent.
As a Senior Attorney for SELC, Asbill has been a leading force in legislative work surrounding water quality, coal ash, offshore drilling, industrial hog operations, and renewable energy. She is now stepping in as Director of the Southern Environmental Law Center North Carolina Offices.

Please help us welcome the new Provost for Academic and Community Engagement, Joseph Jordan! Jordan has been with UNC for 20 years, notably increasing the prominence of the Sonya Hanes Stone Center for Black Culture and History.

As vice provost, he will provide leadership and support for centers and institutes in their work as key sites for academic and community engagement, support equity and inclusion across all units, and apply best practices to finance, administration, and operations management.
