๐Ÿ† The Faculty Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring recognizes graduate faculty who provide outstanding support and guidance to their doctoral students.

Congratulations to this yearโ€™s recipient, Dr. Frank R. Baumgartner, Richard J. Richardson Distinguished Professor of Political Science!

A nationally recognized scholar of the policy process and criminal justice issues, Dr. Baumgartner was praised by students for mentoring that โ€œgoes far beyond advising on research projectsโ€ and for helping doctoral students cultivate their own scholarly identities, develop strong research records, and create real-world impact through their work.

๐Ÿš Earlier this month, 18 graduate students took learning beyond the classroom and into the community during our recent Graduate Student Community Tour.

From innovation hubs to historic community spaces and local nonprofits, students explored the people, places and partnerships shaping real impact across Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

Along the way, they connected across disciplines, engaged with community leaders, and discovered new ways to turn their research and passions into action.

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿด Sunshine, snacks, and a little horse-powered happiness!

Yesterdayโ€™s Mini Horses, Coffee, Cookies & Swag event brought the perfect recharge during Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week.

Students soaked up the sunny weather, enjoyed iced coffee and cookies, and spent some quality time with Kiwi and Peaches from Stampede of Love, our very popular (and very adorable) mini horse guests.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to relax, connect, and grab some Graduate School swag as we head into the final stretch of the semester!
