Founded June 13, 1888, the College of Charleston Alumni Association is an independent nonprofit association representing a global network of nearly 100,000 former students of the College. Its mission is to serve the College and it does so through exciting events, a growing scholarship endowment, and programs and services to engage alumni and students. Annual dues were eliminated in 2007 and all fo

rmer students who earned credit toward a degree at the College are considered members in good standing of the Alumni Association. The Alumni Association is committed to fostering a strong, welcoming, and inclusive alumni community. Alexander Wilson '10 is the owner of a boutique interior design and decoration firm in New York City. Throughout his decade-long career, he has become known for creating sophisticated, comfortable spaces that blend color, pattern, and both traditional and modern design elements. Before launching his own firm, he worked with Ashley Whittaker Design, where his collaborative projects were featured in Veranda, House Beautiful, and AD Italia. In 2024, Mr. Wilson was recognized as a "Design Darling" by Frederic Magazine for his outstanding design work. While at the College, he earned his BA in historic preservation and community planning.

Shelby Higdon ’19 is responsible for calculating the critical factors needed to ensure military aircraft complete successful and safe flights. From determining wind speed, aircraft weight, fuel limits, and cargo capacity, she helps ensure aircraft can operate safely and effectively. While at the College, Ms. Higdon earned her BA in communication and decided to pursue a career in the U.S. Air Force. She joined Los Angeles Air Force Base as an Acquisitions Officer for the Space Enterprise Consortium. After three years in that role, she was promoted to Combat Systems Officer, where she is responsible for making countless critical decisions that contribute to the success and safety of each mission.

Lemuel "Boo" Walker, III '02, is a full-time novelist, and his 17th novel, "The English Bookstore in Bologna," is soon to be released on August 18. Prior to his writing career, he worked in music and songwriting. He joined a band while at the College and eventually moved to Nashville to pursue it professionally. However, his music career was cut short due to an injury, and he returned to the College. He discovered his passion for writing shortly after graduating and has since built a successful career. While at the College, Mr. Walker earned his BA in music. He and his wife, Mikella, reside in Cape Elizabeth, ME, with their son.
