🚙💙 KSR IS HITTING THE ROAD! 🐾

Our Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation faculty are on the move, connecting with future Panthers! 💙

📍 First Stop: Lake Land College!

On Tuesday, our KSR team had the opportunity to meet with local high school students, share our passion for the exercise, PE education, and the sport and recreation industry to highlight the exciting opportunities waiting for them at Eastern Illinois University!

📍 NEXT STOP: Charleston High School — October 22nd!

We’re just getting started! Follow along as KSR hits the road throughout the year, making connections, exploring opportunities, and helping future Panthers find their path!

💙 Your future starts with KSR!

KSR was excited to welcome Health Occupations students from Newton High School to Lantz! 🐾

Students participated in functional movement screening exercises and learned how these assessments can be used to evaluate movement, mobility, and overall functionality.

A special thank you to Dr. Maranda Schaljo and Sport Administration graduate assistant Kylie Mahoney for sharing their knowledge and helping provide a hands-on learning experience for our visitors!

We enjoyed having Newton HS on campus and giving students a closer look at Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation in action!

🎓 From the Classroom to a Career in College Athletics

Our graduate students in KSR 5210: Administration in Intercollegiate Athletics had the opportunity to hear from EIU alum Blake Bonnstetter, Assistant Commissioner for Championships with the Ohio Valley Conference!

Blake shared his experiences working in intercollegiate athletics, provided insight into his current role with the OVC, and talked candidly about making the transition from college student to full-time sport professional.

A major takeaway for our students: seize opportunity. Building experience, making connections, and taking advantage of opportunities now can make all the difference when it’s time to enter the sport industry.

A big thank you to Blake for investing in the next generation of sport professionals! 💙🏆
