The new College of Health Professions () CHP-D building 🏢 is officially open, thanks in part to the generosity of donors who made it possible!

Here's a glimpse of what's inside👀 :

🏫 Multi-use classrooms with large monitors and speakers.
💪 Open cohort-wide labs and specialized mat practice spaces equipped with weights, yoga balls, wheelchairs, and walkers.
❤️‍🩹 Immersive patient simulation spaces and a 6,000-square-foot auditorium.
🏢 RENEW Center: A 24,000-square-foot research facility on the top two floors funded in part by a $7.8 million NIH grant, focused on neurological exercise and stroke/function restoration.
🧠 NExT Wellness Center: Supported by a $10 million philanthropic gift from donors Tina and Ricky Doscher

🔦 The fear that comes with a diagnosis

🔦 Learning to accept help
🔦The reality that survivorship does not mean every challenge disappears

These are just a few of the often-unseen parts of cancer that Michelle Brown-Nelson, DHA, ’08, ’10, ’18, hopes to 🔦 shine a light on by sharing her story.

After nearly 30 years as a nurse, Brown-Nelson, also an adjunct professor at MUSC, found herself on the other side of care in 2023 when she was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer.

Today, she has no evidence of active cancer💪 , and she’s using her experience to encourage others. She now serves as an adjunct professor and recently published a book about her experiences.

It’s an exciting time for the College of Health Professions! ✨️🎉

The college just celebrated the grand opening of CHP-D, a new six-story building complete with flexible learning spaces, simulation and laboratory environments, technology-enabled classrooms, advanced research facilities, and collaborative work areas. It also houses the 24,000-square-foot RENEW Center, where neuroscientists, engineers, and rehabilitation scientists study how to help people regain function and independence in the real world.

While you might not spend much time in the classrooms these days, every upgrade like this adds to the value of the degree you earned.

Proud of where you started? So are we. 💙

Adam Enggasser, M.D., knew he wanted to be a doctor from the time he walked the halls of his elementary school.

Today, that dream is a reality for Adam, a 2026 College of Medicine () graduate, thanks in part to generous donors who contributed to scholarships.

Scholarships are an investment in future health care professionals and the many patients who will benefit from their expert care.

👀ICYMI: U.S. News & World Report ranked MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital No. 5 in the Southeast and No. 1 in South Carolina – the top spot in the state for the seventh year in a row! 🙌

Congratulations to all the dedicated team members who show up for the kids at Shawn Jenkins every day. News like this makes us all proud to be a part of the MUSC family.
