Meet Christine Eldrenkamp, who earned her B.A. in Political Science with a Global Studies Option in 2024 and her M.A. in Political Science in 2025 from Eastern Illinois University! 🎓
🌎 Where Is She Now?Christine is serving as a Peace Corps English and Leadership Education Volunteer in Khovsgol, Mongolia. She works with students on English language skills, project design, management, and life skills. She also supports teachers in developing effective educational strategies and collaborates with local organizations on community development.
🐾 The EIU JourneyChristine credits her time at EIU with helping shape her career through involvement in student organizations, departmental activities, and networking opportunities. Participating in Model United Nations helped her develop project management and collaboration skills, while her experience as a graduate assistant prepared her to mentor students. Campus job fairs, her capstone experience, and guidance from her professors also helped her discover the opportunity to serve in the Peace Corps.
Christine is making an impact! She achieved an intermediate-mid level of Mongolian language proficiency after just 11 weeks of study and received an award from the school where she works in recognition of her involvement with students and teachers.
Words of Wisdom for Panthers:Christine encourages students to get involved in clubs and internships to build practical career skills. She also reminds students that professors can be valuable resources for career guidance, networking, and opportunities they may not have considered.
Congratulations, Christine! We are proud to see you representing EIU and making a difference in Mongolia!
