Our 2025 EIU Summer Journalism camp is nearing its end! Students from across Illinois have spent the week learning from faculty and professionals and gathering interviews, photos, and video around Coles County. Please enjoy these photos of those students at work, courtesy of EIU Journalism Professor Greg Cooper!

This week wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of assistant camp director Rob LeCates and counselors Alexis Moore-Jones and Luke Brewer. Thanks also to Grand Prairie Friends, Coles County Farm Bureau and Sarah Bush Lincoln for hosting our students, and thanks to Corryn Brock, Luke Taylor, Greg Bilbrey, Joe Gisondi, Dann Gire, Lola Burnham, and Dominic Baima for their excellent presentations! And, of course, thanks to the Illinois Press Foundation for making it possible for us to offer this workshop free of charge to our students!

Thanks to the Coles County Farm Bureau for providing these opportunities to the students in our Summer Journalism Camp!

Know a high school student with an interest in journalism? We still have room in this summer's EIU Journalism Camp, which runs June 22-28! We're accepting applications through the end of the month.

The IPF/EIU High School Journalism Workshop is a two-‐week residential program that provides students an intimate look at journalism as a career.

Saturday morning's commencement was a special one for EIU Journalism. Not only did we see off another talented class of students, we also watched as Professor Joe Gisondi was presented the EIU Distinguished Faculty award (1:03:45) and as Robert Flider ('79) received an honorary doctorate and gave inspiring remarks on the value of the press, encouraging grads: "Tell the truth, and don't be afraid."
