We are honored to be YOUR voice at UC, and happy to hear any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have. The University of Charleston Student Government Association (SGA) is a student organization that serves as the governing body for the student body. There are 5 student body officers — President, VP of Project Development, VP of Communications, VP of Finance, and the House of Governors C

hair — elected by the entire student body. Each class elects three senators who serve to address the specific needs of each UC class. All members of the SGA serve for one year and they are responsible for all student issues. They have control over a budget that is used to assist with student organizational needs, special campus projects, and community service activities. Additionally, members serve on a variety of University standing committees.

Welcome back from Fall Break, UC! 🍁✨

Before we left, SGA traveled to Ripley, WV to help load hundreds of donated shoes heading to Soles4Souls — where they’ll be recycled or distributed to people in need. What looks like “just moving boxes” was actually preparing meaningful resources that will help communities across the world.

This project was led by our very own Ashlyn Donohew, an SGA Representative and the founder of Christian Laced, a nonprofit dedicated to collecting and delivering shoes to those in need. We were proud to support her mission and lend a hand. 👟💛

This week, SGA met with campus security to discuss student concerns, hear updates, and speak on ways to strengthen collaboration moving forward.

We also welcomed two newly appointed senators to the council — congratulations and welcome aboard! 🦅

Security asked that we remind students:
• Parking has improved this academic year (Good job) 🚗
• Basketball season tickets are sold out — parking will close periodically for games 🏀
• Always lock your dorm and car doors 🔒
• Check your car regularly for scratches or fallen limbs 🌳
• Avoid driving or parking in nearby neighborhoods 🚫
