Bryan, a recent ROC graduate, has started his career with EIG after completing two years of Electrical classes.

He’s already gaining hands-on experience, mostly trenching for and laying PVC pipe for temporary lighting, running electrical wire, and learning to operate equipment like a skid steer, trencher, and lull forklift.

Abdiel and Diego (1st photo middle and right) and Edwardo (2nd photo, right) are 2026 ROC graduates and recently employed with PowerWorks Electric. So far, Abdiel, Diego and Edwardo have been assisting senior electricians with daily electrical installations, pulling wire, supporting conduit installation, organizing tools and materials and learning job-site safety procedures. All the while, they are developing the technical skills required for a long-term career in the electrical trade.

In the photos next to Abdiel, Diego and Edwardo is Jamicah Miller, a ROC Electrical Instructor, who continues to support and encourage students as they transition from the classroom to job-site.

Marcus (left) is a 2026 ROC graduate and recently employed with Greystar at Solis North Creek Apartments. Marcus is currently learning all the skills needed to be an apartment maintenance technician, so he can in the future handle day-to-day repairs, preventative checks, unit turns and emergency calls.
 
In addition to Marcus in the photo is Noemi, a CPCC / ROC instructor.

Milly (second from right) is a 2026 ROC graduate. She is recently employed with Warco Construction and working at the New Bed Tower at Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center Campus. Millie is currently learning the skills related to the installation of acoustic ceilings. She works hand in hand with Diego (far right) who graduated the ROC program in 2024 and has been with Warco for 2 years.

De’Nard, senior superintendent for DPR Construction (left) and Xavier, 2025 ROC graduate and new field engineer for DPR, presented to almost 100 new ROC students today. They started at 7 AM this morning and finished at 2 PM, speaking to four different classes at 2 different ROC facilities. They laid out all the key general and subcontractor commercial construction jobs and pathways to these new students. They also answered many questions from these eager new students. DPR is a long-standing partner with the ROC and we appreciate their dedication to our students and program.

Alex Camps (left) and Chandler of Gilbane Builders spoke to one of our classes at ROC West today. Alex is a preconstruction manager at Gilbane and is the ROC board chair. Chandler was a 2024 ROC graduate, he then finished his associates degree at CPCC and is now a field engineer with Gilbane.

Both Alex and Chandler presented on the construction progress of the Charlotte Hornets new practice facility, which Gilbane serves as the general contractor. The ROC students asked many questions about the various jobs of the general contractor and subcontractors on the site as they explore different career pathways.

Dave is a current ROC graduate who completed his apprenticeship with WARCO today. He worked at the Wells Fargo 3 East complex preparing floors for finished office space and applying fire retardant. In the photo, Dave is with Ms. Andrea, the project foreman. Per Jimmy Warren, President of WARCO, “We need 20 young apprentices like Dave at our company…he is a rock star, hard working and super smart”.

Jacob (left) standing next to his instructor, Tom, is a recent ROC graduate. This is is his second summer internship at Wayne Brothers. He is now working toward a full-time position while he also finishes up his Construction Management Associates Degree at CPCC. He just turned 18 and is looking forward to being able to operate heavy equipment on site.

Wayne Brothers is a Southeastern, Design-Build Specialty Concrete Contractor since 1985 with over 600 teammates.

Carmen (left) is a recent ROC graduate who is completing her 2nd straight summer apprenticeship with Taylor Morrison Homes. Next to Carmen is Hailey, her ROC Career Development Coordinator. Carmen completed over 60% of her Construction Management Associates Degree while in high school in The ROC Program.

Her favorite part of this summer’s apprenticeship was working with Taylor Morrison’s Build-To-Rent Division. Taylor Morrison is a major homebuilder recognized nationally for quality and trust.

Angel (seated) is a 17 year old rising ROC senior focused on Construction Management. This summer he is interning with Hoffman & Hoffman. Also pictured is Jared, an inside sales engineer, who is mentoring and working with Angel to perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC components. They are using those takeoffs to bid Hoffman’s services on different large scale HVAC projects. Jared said some days Angel may work on 5-6 different, new bids.

Hoffman & Hoffman is a large regional family of commercial HVAC companies including Hoffman Building Technologies, Hoffman Mechanical Solutions and Hoffman Hydronics.
