Our Niner Cohort is off to a great start at University Meadows Elementary School!

The Niner Cohort allows many of our elementary education students to take classes in an elementary environment, so that immediately after class, they can work with young students and implement the practices they've just learned - yet another innovative way Cato College prepares teachers for the classroom!

There's something about listening to Dean Butler speak that just gets people inspired!

Now-junior Katelyn shared this photo with us from her high school "Future Teachers of NC" event that she held onto as motivation. She's now in our Special Education B.A. program and will soon be a teacher inspiring students of her own!

Curious about education, but not enrolled in Cato College yet? Send us a DM! We can connect you to recruiter Malika Houser, our advising team in TEAL, or an interest meeting with a program director that would fit your needs.

The world needs teachers. UNC Charlotte gives students the tools they need to answer that call.

If you attended the Doctoral Open House last week, you might have heard from current Ed.D. student Jeff Richardson about his experience at Charlotte - offering words of encouragement to future doc students and emphasizing the opportunities he's had to collaborate with fellow students across disciplines and work alongside mentor faculty.

What you might not know about him is that he's also a Charlotte Deputy Fire Chief and nearly 30-year firefighter! Richardson's commitment to the city of Charlotte and to uncovering new strategies and data to bring from his studies directly to his daily work is absolutely outstanding - we are lucky to have him!

Read more:

After nearly 29 years with Charlotte Fire, Jeff Richardson is promoted to Deputy Chief of Personnel Administration. From Recruit Class 51 to command staff, his career has been defined by service, mentorship and a commitment to supporting the people who make Charlotte Fire strong.

Congratulations are in order! Our Counseling programs are CACREP accredited for another EIGHT years, with not a single standard unmet on our evaluation ๐ŸŽ‰

Cato College also becomes one of the first institutions to be accredited under the new set of CACREP standards, meeting 447 line items to stay up to s***f with current best practices for our counseling and counselor education students.

This is a win for students too: many state boards (like North Carolina's) require counselors graduate from CACREP-accredited programs to qualify for licensure, because it certifies that you have been prepared to meet national standards as a counselor or counselor educator.

Kudos to our counseling faculty for all their hard work to document the thorough, rigorous work being done in our programs!
