Summer break is over, and the Brothers of Beta Rho Sigma are back at it!

Our September chapter meeting gave us an opportunity to reconnect, enjoy the Brotherhood, and get focused on what’s ahead. There’s nothing like having Brothers back in the room, catching up, sharing some laughs, and continuing the work of Sigma.

We’ve had a strong year, but we’re not finished yet. Beta Rho Sigma is ready to finish 2026 strong!

The men of Phi Beta Sigma stand alongside our Divine Nine brothers and sisters in encouraging everyone to make their voices heard at the polls this election season.
Our Chapter President, Bro. Toby L. Powell, joins fellow Divine Nine presidents in Charlotte in a call to action: vote, stand up for our community, and advocate for those whose voices are too often overlooked.

On September 19, 2026, the Sigmas of Charlotte hosted another successful blood drive to support our community fighting Sickle Cell. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this wonderful cause. Congrats to all of the first time donors!!

Thanks to our donations we saved more than 65 lives.

We were also able to collect uniforms for students at Thomasboro Academy.

Thanks to the Piedmont Health Services & Sickle Cell Agency, American Red Cross North Carolina, Thomasboro Academy, the Thomasboro Community and the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. chapters of Theta Nu Zeta and Tau Theta Zeta.

For nearly 45 years, Brother Joyner has proudly carried the banner of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., dedicating the majority of those years to Beta Rho Sigma Chapter. His decades of commitment represent a lifetime of brotherhood, service, and dedication to the principles of our Fraternity.

A legacy isn’t simply measured by years—it’s measured by the lives touched, the relationships built, the example set, and the foundation left for the Brothers who follow.

On Saturday, August 29, The Beta Rho Sigma Chapter proudly celebrated our Brother, Hon. Bro. Judge Keith S. Smith, on his induction into the Distinguished Service Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. — Member #212!

Brother Smith’s Sigma journey began with his initiation through Xi Gamma Chapter in 1983 and has been defined by an extraordinary commitment to Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service. From becoming one of North Carolina’s youngest State Directors, to chartering collegiate chapters, mentoring generations of Brothers, and dedicating decades to education, public service, and our communities, his impact reaches far beyond the titles he has held.

As a proud member of Beta Rho Sigma Chapter, Brother Smith continues to exemplify the values and legacy of our great fraternity. His influence can be seen in the countless Brothers, students, professionals, and community members he has encouraged, mentored, and inspired throughout the years.

His recent reception brought together Brothers, family, friends, mentees, and fraternity leaders to celebrate a lifetime of achievement and service.

The Sigmas of Charlotte were proud to support Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency at their 12th Annual Run/Walk for Sickle Cell today! 💙

We had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people, including incredible Sickle Cell Warriors who continue to show strength and resilience every day. One of those warriors was just 2 years old—a powerful reminder of why events like this matter so much.

It was truly a wonderful event filled with community, awareness, and inspiration. We’re honored to stand alongside those affected by sickle cell disease and support the fight for a better tomorrow.

Service is what we do. Community is who we are. 💙🤘🏾

This event will help residents better understand how local government works, connect with elected officials and community leaders, and learn practical ways to become more civically engaged.
