Mission: To provide an avenue for credentialed respirator

The BSRT program at UNCC was established in 2007 to provide a pathway for associate-level therapists to advance to the baccalaureate level. UNCC accepts 64 credits for the associate level coursework and awards 12 credits by examination for the RRT. The courses in the program are offered entirely online to make it accessible to the working respiratory therapist. The courses are designed to enhance

the depth and breadth of knowledge in respiratory care and improve professional communication skills and the ability to function as a respiratory therapy consultant. The MSRC program at UNCC was established in 2017 to produce leaders & consultants in respiratory care. UNCC has created a 40-credit plan of study to prepare respiratory therapists with the knowledge & competencies necessary to become experts in respiratory care leadership, education, research, & to achieve advanced clinical credentials. Graduates of the entirely online MSRC program will fill the need for educators, researchers, leaders, & advanced clinical practitioners. The early-entry MSRC program at UNCC was established in 2020 & leads to completion of all requirements for the BSRT and MSRC degrees in as few as three academic years including summers. In this unique program, eligible students complete the BSRT requirements and begin graduate coursework in their senior year. Up to 12 credit hours of graduate work may be double-counted for both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Happy Respiratory Care Week, BSRT & MSRC students, UNCC alumni, & program faculty as well as all the respiratory therapists in North Carolina, across the country, & around the world!
For many of us, life as we previously knew it has been fundamentally altered. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused so much change in so little time. It has swamped our hospitals & brought on mass fear of illness, as well as unemployment & recession. It has closed restaurants, schools, & even whole nations.
Thank you to all the respiratory therapists, near & far, for the sacrifices you make, every day and especially during this pandemic. Your dedication, commitment, and courage deserve our deepest gratitude and admiration. Your service to your patients & community is saving countless lives & making thousands of differences. Many of you balanced job expectations, personal life requirements, school deadlines, & the continued unknowns of COVID-19. You are all heroes in our eyes & this country wouldn't be able to get through this time without you. You inspire us each & every day.
During this difficult time, please know that we stand by you. It is a privilege to call each of you our colleagues during this very trying time. Please know that your brave, hard work is not going unrecognized and we appreciate each of you rising to the current challenge. Thank you so much for all that you do and know we are here to support you in any way that we can!

"You are braver than you believe,
and stronger than you seem,
and smarter than you think."

Participation is down in education programs, with a 27% enrollment decrease since 2010, and only 10% of programs are currently at capacity. Help us attract more RTs to prevent gaps in respiratory care: https://bit.ly/3eL4doE

Respiratory therapists play a critical role in treating COVID-19 patients. They were in high demand before the coronavirus pandemic, and now, with a surge in cases, the need is even greater.
