Piles of paper surveys got out of hand in our CATI lab/data entry space. We have to keep completed surveys for five years! Fortunately, UVA contracts with an off-site, secure storage firm and today we said 'see you later' to over 40 boxes! Glad to have our space back . . .

Together with the University of Virginia Sociology Department, our Director, Kara Fitzgibbon put together a splendid party on Tuesday 10/24 to celebrate Tom Guterbock's retirement from UVA after 47 years of service, including 35 years with CSR and 23 years with Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia. Tom surprised guests by bringing along his barbershop quartet, The Barbers of C'ville from The Jeffersonland Chorus, to entertain.

It was a pleasure speaking at today! Our first panel discussed our recent project on behalf of Virginia Beach. We gathered residents’ feedback, researched voting rights and fair elections, delved into issues of race and equity, and focused on community engagement in order to help Virginia Beach determine what voting system would work best for their citizens.

Thank you to Bertrall Ross, Andrew Block, and Councilwoman Jennifer Rouse for joining us in today’s panel.

Another big thank you to UVA Karsh Institute of Democracy for hosting us and to The Atlantic - the official media partner of Democracy360.
