🚨Heads Up! We will be do our test of the UVA Emergency Notification System Test today at 10:50am.
How do we test this, you ask? Through the following:
🔹Email: Students, faculty, staff, and UVA Health team members automatically receive an email alert
🔸Text: Students, faculty, staff, and UVA Health Team members who have registered their mobile phone number with the University during orientation or onboarding will automatically receive a text alert.
FYI: Members of the public can opt-in to UVA Text Alerts by texting “UVA” to 226787.
🔹Computer Alerts: This application displays an alert notification as a pop-up window or a ticker banner. The Alertus app is already installed on all UVA Health computers.
🔸Digital Display Screens: The display screens in common areas (Newcomb Hall, Libraries, Classrooms, etc.) will display a message about the UVA Alert.
🔹Siren/PA System: The loudspeaker is activated for some imminent threats to the University community. If you are outside and hear the siren and audible announcement, follow the announced instructions. If the audible announcement cannot be understood, immediately check your cell phone or email for a UVA Alert.
🔸UVA Ready Safety App: The official safety app of UVA provides you with several safety resources on Grounds, but will also send you push notifications in the event of an emergency situation.
🔹Websites: The UVA Homepage, UVA Emergency Management, and University Police websites will have a display announcing the alert.
🔸Social Media: All alerts and other regular safety information will be posted on the and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
