Greetings and happy new year from QVA! In honor of throw-back Thursday, we wanted to share more pictures from QVA’s 25th annual Fall Weekend which celebrated everyone who has contributed to LGBTQ+ progress in the past 25 years as we move towards our vision of a truly inclusive University.

The Sunday brunch on the rooftop of the Doyle Hotel concluded the weekend’s festivities and celebrated Mayes Award honoree John Polly, Executive Producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Guests savored an array of homestyle comfort foods and cocktails and enjoyed a fireside chat between John and QVA founding member Matt Paco over John’s momentous career and efforts to showcase q***r excellence. We would like to thank everyone who attended and emphasize our gratitude to all our gracious donors for making this event possible, and to congratulate all on another year of impressive LGBTQ+ accomplishments. We hope you will all continue to work together with QVA towards another year of LGBTQ+ excellence, scholarship, and achievement in 2025!

QVA hosted its 25th annual Fall Weekend to celebrate everyone who has contributed to LGBTQ+ progress in the past 25 years as we move towards our vision of a truly inclusive University.

Friday featured a welcome reception at the LGBTQ Center followed by a Rotunda wine tasting with sommelier Erin Scala of Market Street Wine shop.

At the welcome reception, guests got to know each other and catch up while enjoying the coziness of the new LGBTQ center. QVA was proud to announce the donation of the flag that covered the casket of q***r activist Frank Kameny as he was laid in state. This gracious gift will be added to the Newcomb Hall exhibit on q***r history in Virginia.

Later in the evening guests enjoyed wine pairings showcasing the diversity of Virginian wine with a presentation by renowned sommelier Erin Scala accompanied by scrumptious hors d’oeuvres. It was a joyous kickoff to QVA’s 25th Fall Weekend. We would like to thank everyone who attended and all our gracious donors for making this event possible, and to congratulate all on another year of impressive LGBTQ+ accomplishments.

QVA was thrilled to host multiple events at 2024 Reunions! We first met alumni with casual receptions on the Lawn and the Range, featuring Virginia wine and beautiful Rotunda views. On the second day of Reunions, Dean of Students Cedric Rucker (one of QVA's founders ~25 years ago!) hosted us in his home Pavilion 6, where he gave us a tour of the building and we reminisced and toasted to how far UVA has come for our LGBTQ+ community. Thank you to everyone who came and a happy Pride month to all!

The Lambda Law Alliance at UVA celebrated its 40th anniversary with a vivacious gala in Charlottesville. The night's festivities included drag queen Jackie Cox, a cocktail hour, and an exquisite 3-course meal. As a long-time Lambda partner, QVA was honored to have several Board members in attendance. We are also thrilled to announce that QVA Advisory Council member Cordell Faulk won an award for his infallible dedication to Lambda over the years. We would like to congratulate Cordell and thank the Lambda Law Alliance for hosting a wonderful gala and congratulate them on 40 years of service, advocacy, and representation to the LGBTQ+ community. To the next 40 years!
P.S. We loved the fans!
