The Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. is proud to represent women of color at the University of Virginia

Established as the Alpha Rho Chapter in Spring 2013 at University of Virginia, the Señoritas will continue to pursue the goals and ideals of the Sorority started by our Founding Mothers years ago. As professional women, we will lead and leave an impact throughout our communities and grounds.

Happy Diwali! ✨ Diwali, a significant religious festival in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism, spans five days. Its name originates from the Sanskrit word "dipavali," signifying a "row of lights." This festival beautifully symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness. Each of the five days is marked by distinct rituals and traditions. May this Festival of Lights usher in prosperity and new beginnings for all! #ΣΛΥ

Connect with Lizette Grajales and ask her about her incredible career at our upcoming AdmiRable Career Showcase! 😻

Lizette is a third-year student in the Stanford School of Medicine Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program. She is originally from Philadelphia and obtained her undergraduate degree in Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania. She moved to California in 2022 to begin her medical training at Stanford. As a future PA, her focus is to improve access to health care services and serve as an advocate for members of underserved communities. She has worked toward this goal by serving as an interpreter in multiple clinical settings and working on research at Stanford seeking to improve the in-patient experience for Spanish-speaking families. As a first-generation student and Colombian American, she is passionate about increasing diversity and representation within the health professions. She is open to speaking to anyone interested in learning more about the PA profession!

Connect with Alba Disla and ask her about her incredible career at our upcoming AdmiRable Career Showcase! 😻

Alba Disla is a DE&I Communications Coordinator at Comcast Corporation. Based in Philadelphia, PA, she executes corporate stories about employee engagement both internally and externally. She covers heritage month campaigns, Comcast’s national volunteerism program Team UP, Corporate DE&I initiatives, and more. Alba initially joined Comcast in January 2020 as an Employee Resource Group (ERG) Coordinator. In this role, Alba managed the corporate headquarters ERG portfolio overseeing programming, communications, reporting, budgets, and governance. More specifically, she managed the $500,000 ERG Elevate Fund, including the application review process and working with ERG leaders and external vendors to execute highly impactful events. Alba earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Consumer Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In her free time, she loves discovering new music on Spotify and exploring Philly neighborhoods through restaurants and concerts.

Hermanas in downtown 💃🏾💃🏻💃🏼💃🏿 Earlier this year, we came together as a chapter in Charlottesville, Virginia for a heartfelt reunion. On our last day together, we bonded over brunch in the Downtown Mall. 😍 We love that even years later, we can still get together in good old C’ville and pick up right where we left off. ❤️

Activism is defined as the action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or social change. As an organization founded on the basis on empowering marginalized communities, we believe we have a duty to use our platform for social activism, and that includes calling out injustice and violence.

We are calling for the right to safety, freedom, and self-determination for all oppressed peoples. We mourn all of the lives lost during this conflict. We recognize the asymmetry of power and the indiscriminate violence that exists in Gaza and call for an immediate ceasefire.
