In recognition of the Labor Day holiday, PVCC will close at 12 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2026. Classes scheduled to end at 1 p.m. on main campus and 4 p.m., at the PVCC Giuseppe Center, will run as scheduled.

PVCC will also be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day. All buildings and classrooms at all locations will be closed for the entire day.

You are invited to a Revolutionary Conversation at PVCC.

In an inaugural lecture on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, two scholars of the Revolutionary War era, Dr. Andrew J. O’Shaughnessy and Dr. James R. Sofka, will examine many of the "considerable characters" of the Revolution on both sides, as well as the larger stage on which their story played.

Each fall the PVCC community votes on a single book to read. This year the One Book is The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet by John Green. The book is described as "a remarkable symphony of essays," where best selling author John Green "reviews different facets of the human-centered planet on a five-star scale—from the QWERTY keyboard and sunsets to Canada geese and Penguins of Madagascar."

Follow along this semester as the College reads and explores the themes and topic of this funny and complex prose. Free copies of the book will be available for students, staff and faculty at the kick-off event this Wednesday, September 2, in the Main Building Event Space. There will also be hot dogs, a food contest and the opportunity to trace your hand like the cavemen in the Lascaux Cave Paintings.

Today, August 31, PVCC held an open house and ribbon cutting for its new Healthcare Simulation and Skills Labs in the Eugene Giuseppe Center in Stanardsville, VA. Vice President of Advancement and External Affairs Harry Stillerman shared, “these newly renovated spaces will provide nursing and healthcare students with opportunities to learn and practice in realistic clinical environments before entering the workforce.”

Thank you Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Virginia Community Community College System Workforce Pipeline initiative, PVCC Educational Foundation and all the generous donors and community partners whose support is helping students build skills, pursue meaningful careers and meet critical healthcare workforce needs throughout our region.

PVCC is looking forward to hosting the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce Business Forum, Thursday, September 10, in The Bolick Center. Business leaders from across Central Virginia are invited "for a collaborative forum focused on practical workforce solutions, employer partnerships, and the resources available to help businesses recruit, develop, and retain talent."

During the afternoon the Chamber will host a Small Business B(AI)sics: Free AI Training for Small Businesses, from 1-3 p.m. This workshop is free and open to all businesses throughout Central Virginia.
