Congratulations to Dr. Rahul Bhosale on earning tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering!

An internationally recognized researcher and dedicated educator, Dr. Bhosale has quickly made a remarkable impact on UTC through his scholarship, teaching, and student mentorship. Since joining UTC in 2023, he has secured more than $2 million in external research funding as principal investigator, including a prestigious NSF ERI Award, while contributing to numerous collaborative research projects.

Dr. Bhosale's research achievements have earned global recognition, including being named among the Top 2% Most Cited Scientists Worldwide in the 2025 Stanford University/Elsevier rankings. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to research and teaching, he was also named a Guerry Professor at UTC in 2024.

In the classroom, Dr. Bhosale is known for his commitment to student success, teaching a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, and consistently earning strong student evaluations.

Congratulations to Dr. Yingfeng Wang on his promotion to Professor of Computer Science.

A leader in machine learning, bioinformatics, and quantum computing, Dr. Wang has distinguished himself through impactful research, exceptional student mentorship, and dedicated university service. His commitment to undergraduate research has created meaningful opportunities for students to publish journal articles and conference proceedings, earning him a departmental teaching award for excellence in mentorship.

As principal investigator, Dr. Wang has secured more than $1.4 million in external funding and has collaborated on numerous research projects supported by organizations including the National Science Foundation, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the National Institutes of Health, NAIRR, Erlanger, and Amazon.

In addition to his research and teaching accomplishments, Dr. Wang has provided outstanding service to UTC as chair of the University Faculty Development Grant program, a Faculty Senate representative, and coordinator of the M.S. in Data Analytics program.

Congratulations to Dr. Seong Dae Kim on his promotion to Professor of Engineering Management!

Dr. Kim has built an outstanding record of achievement in teaching, research, and service. A dedicated educator, he is recognized for his contributions to graduate education, exceptional capstone mentoring, and commitment to student success. His impact in the classroom earned him a college award for distinguished teaching, with students consistently praising his expertise and ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.

A prolific scholar, Dr. Kim's research spans simulation modeling, decision and risk analysis, emergency management, sports analytics, technology forecasting, digital twins, and creativity and AI. He is also the author of an eBook on project management published by Kendall Hunt.

Beyond his teaching and research accomplishments, Dr. Kim has provided distinguished service to UTC through leadership roles as graduate coordinator and service on numerous university committees and initiatives. His professional contributions were recognized with the UTC CECS Outstanding Professional Service Award in 2025. He also holds several respected professional credentials, including Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Associate Certified Analytics Professional (aCAP), and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications.

Making headlines for innovation that matters, we're proud to see The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga student Austin McDade featured by WTVC-TV NewsChannel 9 News. By 3D-printing and assembling a custom mobility chair for a local toddler with cerebral palsy, Austin helped bring a project to life that demonstrates how engineering can solve real-world challenges and make a meaningful impact in our community.

Congratulations to Dr. Trevor Elliott on his promotion to Professor!

Professor Elliott is widely recognized for excellence across teaching, research, and service. He leads some of the highest credit hour-producing courses in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, including capstone design and first-year experience, and has been honored with the SAE International Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award for his outstanding contributions to engineering education.

A distinguished researcher, Professor Elliott has secured significant external funding, including a $542,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) Career Award, along with numerous grants as both principal investigator and co-principal investigator. His commitment to UTC extends through university leadership roles, including service as chair of the General Education Committee, as well as his longstanding mentorship of the UTC Racing Mocs, UTC Rocket Mocs, and UTC Tau Beta Pi Chapter.

His contributions to the engineering profession have earned him the AIAA Sustained Service Award and elevation to Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

Congratulations to Dr. Raga Ahmed on her promotion to Professor of Electrical Engineering at UTC!

Dr. Ahmed has distinguished herself through excellence in teaching, mentorship, service, and community engagement. Her teaching spans introductory, senior-level, and graduate courses, and she has played an important role in mentoring educators through initiatives supported by more than $1.2 million in National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) and Robert Noyce awards.

She has also contributed to projects totaling an additional $1.4 million in funding as a Co-PI and senior personnel.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Ahmed has made a lasting impact through her service to UTC, the College, the Electrical Engineering department, and the broader community. From serving as a graduate coordinator and long-standing NSBE advisor to mentoring and collaborating with schools throughout the region, she continues to create opportunities for students at every level.

A strategic leader, community champion, and one of Chattanooga's rising stars, Kyle B. has been named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press 20 Under 40 list.

A graduate of UTC's M.S. in Engineering and Construction Management program, Kyle serves as Senior Manager of Enterprise Risk & Assurance at Tennessee Valley Authority, where he helps guide enterprise-wide risk strategy for one of the nation's largest public power providers. His leadership has helped drive excellence across the organization while making a lasting impact in the communities TVA serves.

Kyle's career advice is refreshingly simple: don't rush the journey. By focusing on learning, building relationships, and understanding how each role contributes to the bigger picture, he has grown into a leader known for connecting people, priorities, and purpose.
