Have you thought about serving as an elected official? Do you wonder what it’s like to introduce legislation, debate it, amend it, and vote on it? Are you interested in learning more about how the legislative process works in Virginia? If you answered yes to any of these, check out this opportunity!

Brightpoint is recruiting students for its delegation to the 2026 Virginia Government Simulation (VGS). The VGS is a three-day, hands-on program that lets students from across Virginia step into the role of a legislator. There are also opportunities for students to take on the role of journalists who report on the legislative process.

Welcome to the Fall 2026 semester! If your classes bring you to campus, stop by one of our welcome tables!

On August 24 and August 25, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., there will be music, snacks and tables set up outdoors, where you can learn about student clubs and upcoming student activities. At Chester, the Welcome Back event will be in the area between Moyar Hall and Discovery Hall. At Midlothian, the event will be in the area between Trailblazer Hall and the Administration Building.

August 24 – 27, we’ll also have information tables set up indoors, staffed with members of the Brightpoint team who can answer questions about classes, college services, campus locations, and more. At the Chester Campus, the information tables will be inside Moyar Hall near room M107. At the Midlothian Campus, the tables will be inside Trailblazer Hall in the lobby.

A Go Virginia grant announced earlier this summer will help Brightpoint create a dedicated on-campus cybersecurity and AI training environment and will support a number of our programs, such as our new artificial intelligence CSC. Once built, this new lab will be a space where students participate in industry-aligned, hands-on learning experiences in AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing and emerging technologies. This work is designed to expand the region’s talent pipeline and strengthen workforce readiness. We look forward to sharing more about this new lab once it comes online! Brightpoint is adding some exciting new programs to its list of majors! Starting this fall, students can enroll in our new pharmaceutical manufacturing associate degree program, which builds upon our existing career studies certificate (CSC); our new artificial intelligence (AI) CSC, which teaches AI skills employers are seeking; and our new hospitality management CSC, designed for those interested in starting in the field as well as those who want to advance their careers. The countdown to the start of the fall semester is on, and we are so excited! If you’re getting ready to kick off your classes at Brightpoint, we want to share a few tips to help you prepare.
1. Double-check your class schedule. Log into myBrightpoint and go into SIS to confirm when your classes start and where they are being held (online or at the Chester or Midlothian campuses).
2. Keep an eye on your student email. Lots of helpful information is shared to your student email, and we don’t want you to miss it!
3. Got a question? Ask our Help Hub! You can call, text, email or stop by the Help Hub for assistance. (Hours and contact information may be found at www.brightpoint.edu/helphub).
