We’re pleased to announce Cary Caro has been named the next dean of the Widener School of Business Administration - SBA. Caro will assume the role on July 1.

Caro is known for his collaborative and data-informed approach to academic leadership. He is committed to student success and building strong partnerships between academia and industry, with a focus on innovative program development, experiential learning opportunities and aligning business education with workforce needs.

Caro brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education to the role, including serving as dean of the School of Business at La Salle University and previously as chair of the Division of Business at Xavier University of Louisiana.

We are pleased to announce Crystal Gibson has been named the new executive director of Widener University Athletics, beginning July 1.

Gibson currently serves as director of athletics and recreation at St. Mary's College of Maryland, a position she has held since 2020.

Gibson will be responsible for the organization, administration and coordination of all aspects of Widener’s 23 intercollegiate athletic programs and their facilities, which complement the educational experience of the university. She will also oversee all interactive student-athlete educational and development programs at Widener, which is an NCAA Division III member of the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Congrats to the newly commissioned 2nd lieutenants of the U.S. Army from Dauntless Battalion!!

At a ceremony on campus today, 9 cadets were commissioned, including 6 from Widener’s Class of 2026.

Thank you for your service 🇺🇸

The officers who earned their undergraduate degrees from Widener, and the military branches which they will enter, include:

* Bradyn C. Erb, mechanical engineering – cyber
* Anna F. Greydanus, nursing – nursing corps
* Rhett C. Klinger, mechanical engineering – corps of engineers
* Connor R. Phillips, criminal justice – air defense artillery
* Liam R. Reilly, finance – infantry
* Robert G. Watkins, criminal justice – infantry

Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Mario Terenas, who enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman in 1990, was the ceremony speaker. Terenas served 32 years and concluded his military career as the division command sergeant major of the 10th Mount Infantry in 2023.

Three additional Dauntless cadets from Villanova University will commission in a separate ceremony at their home university later this month.
