Looking forward to joining Governor John Carney at Washington College on September 10 for the first public event of the Hogan Institute’s Distinguished Speakers Series.

We’ll be discussing the environmental legacy and future of Delmarva, and how we worked across party lines and state borders as governors to protect our shared resources.

This is exactly the kind of conversation the Hogan Institute was created to encourage: civil dialogue, practical thinking, and bringing people together to solve problems. The event is free and open to the public.

As the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience celebrated its 25th anniversary this past academic year, it found itself at a historic triple-confluence: a quarter-century of its own innovation, the nation’s semiquincentennial, and the approaching 250th anniversary of Washington College in 2032. This annual award celebrates the year’s best works on the founding of our nation, particularly those that broaden public knowledge of early American history.

The $50,000 George Washington Prize, created by George Washington's Mount Vernon, The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, and Washington College, is one of the nation’s largest and most notable literary awards.
