Robots, storytelling, and plenty of creativity! 🤖💡

Nearly three dozen young learners joined Devtech Research Group's ScratchJr Blocks and Bots Summer Camp, where they explored programming and robotics through hands-on projects.

Founded by Marina Bers, Augustus Long Professor of Education, this immersive camp gave young learners the opportunity to test new ScratchJr prototypes while bringing their own characters and stories to life.

“When I first came here, I didn’t know anything about ScratchJr. I needed more time to understand it, and I learned to persevere when things didn’t work out,” shared 10-year-old camper Leanne.

What helps students become stronger mathematical thinkers? 🧠

New longitudinal research from Professor Emma Klugman and Elizabeth Olson, M.S. ’26, investigates the factors that drive mathematical reasoning growth among a group of students—and the answer isn't simply more math instruction.

Their findings challenge common assumptions about how students learn math and reveal strategies that can make a meaningful difference in the classroom.

“Many of our students have experienced significant trauma or have complex needs that have led to the behaviors that we’re seeing. The mission of the Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development and the Jesuit values at Boston College—thinking about the whole person and promoting justice through service—are well aligned with my current organization." - Sarah Bertschmann, ’20, M.Ed. ’21, Principal of the Day and Residential School at Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs | READ MORE: https://on.bc.edu/SarahBertschmann_Lynch
