✨ Internship Spotlight 🤠

Andie West worked as an intern during the New Year's Eve Beef Bash in Mitchell, NE. She helped check in cattle, break classes, served as a ring steward, and record results.

"Casey Mackey, the internship host, helped make sure that I was able to help and learn every step of the show. I was able to learn how to run the showman app not only from an exhibitor perspective but also from an administrator perspective. I genuinely enjoyed the entire internship from all the running around and taking down to meeting all the wonderful exhibitors and seeing some elite show cattle." 🐮

✨ Internship Spotlight 🤠

Erica VanEssen interned at Miller Equine as an Equine Facility Assistant. She assisted with daily barn operations including stall cleaning, tack maintenance, feeding, grooming, groundwork, and exercising horses. 🐴

"This experience helped me strengthen my horsemanship, time management, and animal care skills while working in an equine environment. One of the most valuable things I gained was hands-on experience handling and working with a variety of horses. I especially enjoyed being able to spend time riding and building trust with the horses while learning more about the daily operations of an equine facility." 💙

✨ Internship Spotlight 🤠

Ecomae Kontour worked as an intern at Fancher, Inc. as a ranch hand, assisting with daily ranch operations like calving checks, tagging calves, feeding cattle, and fixing fence.

"I gained valuable experience in cattle handling, time management, and learning how ranchers adapt to challenges such as drought and changing schedules. One of the most valuable skills I developed was balancing work responsibilities with school and flight classes." 🐮

✨ Internship Spotlight 🤠

Jaden Fanning worked as an intern for assistant rodeo coach Vickie Segelke. He helped with fencing, riding young horses, and assisting with daily ranch responsibilities.

"This experience gave me hands-on knowledge of ranch operations and improved my horse handling and teamwork skills. One of the biggest skills I gained was learning how to work with and train young horses safely and effectively. I enjoyed working outdoors every day and gaining real-world experiences in the rodeo and ranching industry." 🐮

As we celebrate National Beef Month, it's important to remember that beef production is one of the cornerstones of our great state.

In 2024, cattle ranked #1 in Wyoming's commodity cash receipts, with $136 million of exported beef. With a cattle inventory of 1.6 million head, ranching plays an integral role in maintaining Wyoming's legacy and future as The Cowboy State.

🎓 Spring Graduate Spotlight ✨

Emma Brence is graduating tomorrow with her A.S. in Ag Business and is transferring to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to pursue a Bachelors in Ag Leadership, Education, and Communications with a focus in Environmental Sciences Communications and minor in Leadership. She will also be on the collegiate livestock judging team. 🤠

"My favorite memory is the endless hours in the van traveling to different states with my best friends and teammates. LCCC has been so good to me, I have pushed myself to try new things I never thought I would have anywhere else. The programs and staff in the Agriculture department are truly so helpful, kind, and hardworking. This is what sets LCCC apart."

Rhett Tattrie will be graduating tomorrow with his A.A.S. in Ag & Equine. He is planning on returning next year to finish his A.S. in Ag Business. 🤠

"Favourite memory, any day in Ben’s class! Truly my favorite instructor specifically because of the stock simulator (beating him every semester). And getting to travel to college rodeos and practice every day." 🐎
