We’re blown away by Corazón de Papel (Paper Heart), featuring the amazing sculptures of Gloria Contreras (who goes by XICANTL)… on display in the Christopher Art Gallery at Prairie State College now through October 14.

XICANTL offers a contemporary take on Mexican folkloric art - featuring cartonería, Catrinas (elegant skeletal female figures), and alebrijes.

Check out the artist reception today (9/16) until 1:00 PM!

Many thanks to all our students and community members who DID NOT take Patrick Henry's advice, and came to "Constitution Day: No Kings Since 1776" in celebration of Constitution Day & Citizenship Day 2026! 📜🇺🇸 Hosted today by our friends in the Prairie State College Library

We appreciated the great turnout, and all of the fantastic contributions to the conversation!

Frederick Douglass wrote in 1870 that racism was "a vulgar and senseless prejudice." Words that ring just as loudly today in light of present events.

We're here for all the members of our community who have been wounded by the acts of racism that have happened in recent days.

We're here as always to teach, to learn, to listen, and to act. We stand with Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
