A massive congratulations to our first-years!🎓

Their first year is officially in the books. After a tough finals week, these students are officially 50% of the way to becoming practicing Occupational Therapists.

They’ve grown so much this past year, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication to this program and field. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the second half of their journey!

Huge congratulations to our first year OT student David Gaines on being selected for the 2026–27 AOTA Rehabilitation & Disability SIS Internship!

Through this national leadership role, David will collaborate directly with AOTA committee members on behind-the-scenes initiatives including drafting research spotlights, creating practice resources and infographics, and highlighting practitioner profiles across the country.

We can’t wait to see the impact you make on the national stage, David! 👏

DePaul MSOT is making headlines! 🗞️

We are so proud to celebrate these future OTs whose evidence-based research was recently published in the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association (ILOTA) The Communiqué! 📝✨

🔹 Amaya Rivera & Cynthia Pham –
“Relationship Between Disability Demographics and Employment Outcomes.” Their work partnerned with the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities to highlight actionable steps for advancing workplace access and inclusion.

🔹 Emmie Hood, Riley Turner, & Frederika Shero – “Navigating the Return to Work.” Their research dives deep into neurorehabilitation and acute care, focusing on healthcare policy, psychosocial adjustment, and the clinical return-to-work process for newly disabled individuals.

Our students continue to show what it means to advocate for inclusive, client-centered practice. Head to the link in our bio to read their full feature pieces on the ILOTA blog!

Developing our clinical skills and developing film!

Instead of the usual quick phone pictures, we brought a Polaroid camera into the lab to document our orthotics fabrication process. Just like molding custom splints, these instant prints are all about patience, precision, and capturing the moment by hand!

Instant prints for instant feedback! 📸

Advocacy in action! 🗣️✨

Our DePaul OT students have spent the last few weeks connecting with local youth groups to spread the word about what occupational therapy is and why it matters. By introducing the profession at an early age, they’re helping spark curiosity in the next generation of healthcare heroes.

Shoutout to the groups who used the resources to bring their presentations to life! We love seeing our students advocate for the profession they love.
