The A Ca****la Showcase is tonight!! Come watch and support all of our wonderful a ca****la groups in Mandel Hall at 7:00pm, and sign up for auditions after the show! Groups will be tabling outside of Mandel after the showcase, and you can sign up to audition for as many groups as you want. We can't wait to see you there!

For our final introduction, we have the vibrant, vivid, vivacious Voices In Your Head!

Voices in Your Head is an all-gender a ca****la group which aims to “push the bounds of contemporary a ca****la.” Its unique repertoire includes original pieces, as well as an eclectic mix of pop, R&B, rock, and alternative music. This past April, Voices advanced to ICCA Finals for the fifth time in the group's history, and performed at the Town Hall Theatre in New York City!

Our fifth group is undeniably warm-hearted and uniquely whimsical… that’s right, it’s UW!

Unaccompanied Women (UW), one of UChicago’s two high voices groups, is the oldest a ca****la group on campus. Last spring, they had a blast competing in the Great Lakes ICCA Quarterfinals with their set: Orpheus (Sara Bareilles), Moderation (Florence + the Machine), and Take Me To Church (Hosier). This past year they also recorded a brand new studio album that is coming soon, featuring arrangements like Slow Dancing in the Dark (Joji) and Oh My God (Adele)—so be on the look out 💜💜

Come to the a ca****la Showcase on Sept. 26 to see UW sing their hearts out alongside all five other groups!

Time to return to our group introductions—next up is Run For Cover!

Run for Cover is UChicago’s award-winning historically-male a ca****la group. They’ve been semifinalists at ICCAs, competing biannually, and their single ‘Gold’ was named RARB’s Pick of the Decade. RFC loves to have fun and sing anything with energy, from John Mayer to Kanye West to Jimmy Eat World, and they’re looking forward to sharing that energy with UChicago again this year!

We’re taking a short break from getting to know our groups in order to announce the details for this year’s A Ca****la Showcase! Showcase will be in Mandel Hall (next to Reynolds Club) on Monday, September 26th at 7:00. Come out to see all six groups perform—it’s going to be aca-mazing 🥰🎶

For our third group, we have UChicago’s babes in blue, The Ransom Notes!

The Ransom Notes is an award winning all-gender a ca****la group who performs in Chicago and around the country on their annual winter tours and bi-annual spring tours! They were recently finalists in the International Championship of Collegiate A Ca****la (ICCA) in 2021 and Semifinalists in 2022 after winning the Great Lakes Quarterfinal. The Ransom Notes LOVE spending time together, be it goofing off in Logan Cafe before rehearsal, wreaking havoc at Shinju all-you-can-eat sushi, or being too loud at study break in a Stuart cubical.

Next up on our list of introductions is the beautiful and talented Medusa!

Medusa (formerly Men in Drag) is a high-voices a ca****la group at the University of Chicago. The group enjoys performing empowering music from all genres, especially pop and rock, and have recently covered artists such as Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and Lana del Rey. This past spring, they released an EP titled “After Midnight,” and are looking forward to competing in ICCAs this upcoming year!

For our first group introduction, we present to you UChicago Aag!

Uchicago Aag is UChicago’s premier and only gender-inclusive South Asian acapella group which was established in 2014. It’s a fusion acapella group which sings catchy arrangements in two or more languages. Aag is a tight-knit fun musical community that has sung at proposals, food festivals, farewells and many unique occasions.

Voices in Your Head (“Voices”) is an all-gender contemporary a ca****la group, founded in 1998! Since then, our group has placed second and third at the International Championship of Collegiate A Ca****la, and won numerous other awards. Voices performs a huge range of different genres of music, including pop, R&B, and rock & roll.

We’d love to sing with you at auditions and callbacks!
