DePaul School of Music is thrilled to announce the 2026/27 DePaul Opera Theatre season!

We begin the season with EVERLASTING FAINT, a powerful new opera that received its world premiere at Madison Opera last season. Written by Wisconsin native Scott Gendel and Sandra Flores-Strand, the opera dramatizes the remarkable true story of the 1897 Greenbrier Ghost and a mother’s determined fight for justice. Catherine O’Shaughnessy conducts, and George Cederquist returns to direct.

Our winter opera brings Mozart’s perennial favorite, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, back to the DePaul stage. Last produced here in March 2020, that production was forced to close on opening night as the COVID-19 lockdown began. Six years later, we are thrilled to finally bring Figaro back to life, with Sir Emanuele Andrizzi conducting and Harry Silverstein directing.

We close the season with Rossini’s sparkling comedy LA SCALA DI SETA. After decades without a Rossini opera at DePaul, we are excited to return to the composer’s infectious wit and virtuosic music with this hilarious romantic romp, set against the lavish backdrop of Paris. Hannah Zizza Stanfield returns to direct and DePaul Symphony Orchestra’s own music director, Francesco Milioto conducts.

Three operas. Three unforgettable stories. One extraordinary season; brought to life by the singers of DePaul Opera Theatre in collaboration with the musicians of the DePaul Symphony Orchestra and the DePaul Concert Orchestra.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the 2026/27 DePaul Opera Theatre season!
