Rush has always had a special place in Jackie Bollinger's heart. The Oak Park local was a patient here and was inspired by the care and treatment she received.

Bollinger is studying biopsychology, cognition and neuroscience at the University of Michigan. This summer, she worked with Rush’s Arka Mallela, MD, MS, assistant professor, Department of Neurological Surgery, through the Summer Scholars Program in the Division of Translational Science at Rush Medical College.

"Getting to come back and join these teams that I'm hoping to someday be a part of — it's important to me," Bollinger says.

An anonymous donor has strengthened their commitment to Rush through a $13.5 million gift to support our health equity mission.

General Entry Master's and MSN Post-Licensure students at Rush University College of Nursing recently shared their final capstone presentations with fellow students, staff and faculty.

Students spend two terms working on their capstone presentations. They use the first term to plan and the second term to evaluate and implement their project.

Advanced Public Health Nursing DNP student, Jazmine Lampkin, RN, shares her experience and impact in the world of public health nursing with the help of her Rush community.

“As a bedside nurse, I’d treat the patient in the moment, but I'm also thinking there must be something that can be done on a larger scale to prevent people from being here, from getting to this point,” she says. “And that's the importance of public health. It's teaching people how to take care of themselves in a way that will prevent them from getting chronic illnesses down the line.”

Rush Medical College M1s received their white coats and recited the Hippocratic Oath at Saturday’s White Coat Ceremony. Surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated one of the first milestones in their medical careers.

“This white coat is the next step in accomplishing my dreams, which is to leave the world a better place than when I came into it,” Kylie Finkelstein says. “I will be a very happy person if I can even help just one person.”
