LHS Chicago is the main health sciences library for UIC west campus.

The Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago evolved from a reading room within the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Chicago in the late 1800s to a freestanding facility at its current location dedicated in 1974. The collection includes serial titles, monographs, and audio visual materials on medicin

e, nursing, dentistry, pharmacology, and other health-related professions. Its special collections include the History of Nursing and Pharmacy Collection, the Kiefer Collection (urology), the Percival Bailey Library (neurology) and the Nyhus Collection (gastroenterology). There are health sciences libraries in Peoria, Rockford and Urbana serving the UIC health sciences colleges in those cities.

The Library of the Health Sciences – Chicago is interested in learning how our UIC community members feel about our health sciences library space on the west campus. The health sciences library has four floors with a variety of spaces, including study spaces, group collaboration and social gathering areas (e.g., meeting rooms, study rooms, collaboration areas). Available within the library spaces are books, journals, computers, printers, scanners and other academic technologies.

As a part of University Library’s Strategic Plan, we are looking for your input regarding your use, experiences and perceptions of the library. Your feedback will be used to help with our space use and planning initiatives in the years to come.

Completing the survey is voluntary, and your information will be kept anonymous. It will take about 10-15 minutes to complete it.

The survey will remain open until May 15, 2026

Sensory kits contain shaded glasses, earplugs and assorted stress-relief aids. No need to return! The kits are yours to keep! Available for any student who requests one.

Borrow a LED Therapy Lamp to boost your mood, increase energy and improve sleep. ID required for a 1-day loan and include a cord for charging. Lamps are available to any student or staff member.
