LAS is the largest college at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), comprising a diverse community of academics and students actively involved in learning and sharing knowledge across a wide range of fields. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at UIC is the largest undergraduate college, offering a vibrant community of scholars and students in various fields such as natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and pre-professional programs. Congratulations to alumnus David Neto on receiving the American Physical Society’s 2026 Dissertation Award in Nuclear Physics, a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding doctoral research. 🏅

David completed his award-winning dissertation at Physics and is now a postdoctoral researcher at Michigan State University. His research is advancing nuclear astrophysics and expanding our understanding of the universe through innovative experiments and data-driven discovery.

Exploring undergraduate research at UIC!

On Sept. 16, the Institute for the Humanities welcomed undergraduate students to its annual Undergraduate Research Open House.

The event brought students together with departments, student clubs, and campus offices that can help guide their research journeys. Students learned about research resources, funding opportunities, and mentorship across the humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.
