Travel the world through film, no passport required.

This semester, Professors Ayesha Abouelazm and Miguel Silveira invite you to experience the Cultural Cinema Series: Brazil & Egypt, an ongoing screening series exploring cinema through the cultural perspectives, histories, and traditions of Brazil and Egypt.

Each Tuesday this fall at 5 p.m., the professors will alternate selections featuring rare, significant, and culturally rich films that offer audiences an opportunity to discover new perspectives and deepen their appreciation for the art and history of cinema.

This week, we began in Egypt. Join us next week (Sept. 8) for Brazil.

Tuesdays at 5 p.m.
SOC Screening Room, Room 222

The series is free and open to everyone, with film students especially encouraged to attend. Come for one screening or join us throughout the semester as we experience cinema from a different point of view.

🎥 The SoC is looking for our next batch of storytellers. Is it you?

The School of Communication is hiring up to 3 "SOC-ial Media Influencers" to become the student voices behind our social content.

You might find yourself hosting hallway and street interviews, jumping into Shuttle Talks, filming a Study With Me, capturing Professor Hot Takes, checking out spots for SOC Eats, exploring downtown Chicago, or helping us dream up something completely new. Show the world what being an SOC Rambler is like through your lens. 📱✨

Our influencers will help tell stories across three main areas:

👥 Campus Life & Student Orgs
Highlight student organizations, events, friendships, traditions, campus moments, and the energy of the SOC community.

📚 Academic & Career Hustle
Showcase classes, professors, projects, internships, career preparation, networking, and the experiences helping SOC students prepare for what comes next.

🏙️ Wellness & City Life
Capture balance, study spots, SOC Eats, wellness, commuting, downtown adventures, and what it’s like to attend college in the heart of Chicago.

We’re looking for students with personality, creativity, curiosity, strong storytelling instincts, and an authentic perspective on the SOC experience. We want content that helps someone scrolling through their feed understand what life here actually feels like.

Because seeing is believing.
