SAELL students took a trip to the Chicago History Museum to spend the day learning about important events, people, and themes in the history of our great city. Now, they're preparing their mid-term presentations and projects on a topic they learned about at the museum.

Stop by and meet Jackson Quincy Nahayo, our guest speaker, and learn more about his life, work, and NEIU’s connection to his community in Burundi.

Jackson was a child refugee during the 1993–1994 civil war in Burundi. He later lived in Canada, became a medical doctor, and returned to Burundi in 2015 to establish the Ubuntu community. Today, he, his wife, and their community are dedicated to helping rebuild Burundi as a peaceful society.

As a reminder, NEIU TESOL will host a talk with special guest Hannah Bonifacius on September 14 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in SU 103! Bonifacius will present, "Mental Health Awareness in Language Learning Environments."

Hannah graduated with her M.A. in TESOL in 2018. She is the Director of National Education Services at World Relief, where she helps TESOL educators integrate mental health awareness into their practice and programs.

SAELL students celebrated their final week of the Summer semester with a beautiful field trip to Chicago Botanic Garden. Warm wishes to all of our outgoing students: Boogi, Deggie, Nara, Kaito, and Harry. Special congratulations to Deggie (MBA), Harry (B.S. Artificial Intelligence), and Nara (B.S. We had an amazing Short-term English and Chicago Cultural Immersion Program with 6 students from our partner Hansung University.
