Wrecked our whole weekend! :-D
(African spirituality is NOT "demonic".)
Sign located at Five Mile Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Notice the sign includes hoodoo?
Hoodoo has a rich history, especially when it comes to cemeteries and graveyards. Everything from the dirt, bones of the dead, clothes, trees, animals, and gravestones is used in Hoodoo. There are certain rituals performed there as well, such as one to rid oneself of warts or to retrieve the correct black cat bone at midnight.
-In hoodoo, there are specific beliefs that trees belong specifically to the graveyard, such as the weeping willow. It's believed that it's bad luck to plant one in your personal yard, or else it will grow so big and cast the shadow of darkness, causing bad luck.
-The graveyard bunny is considered good luck, especially the hind leg, but you cannot execute the bunny in any kind of way. There is a specific way to do so.
- Divination is done at the graveyard at times to consult the oldest spirit there as well.
- Graveyard snakeskin helps you conquer your enemies. Or using the grease of a graveyard snake helps with protection. Even consuming the graveyard snake can increase wisdom.
So you see, you never know why a Hoodoo may be in the graveyard or cemetery.
Also, I don't think the sign worked; there's already a headless chicken at the gate 🤷🏾‍♀️
