G&ES Department The Geography and Environmental Studies Department at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The Department of Geography & Environmental Studies offers two Bachelor of Arts degrees: 1) Geography and 2) Environmental Studies. We focus on solving problems with a social sciences (human dimensions) approach and foundational understanding of our physical environment. In addition, we offer students strong technical courses in GIS and spatial analysis, which translate to concrete job skills that employers want. In addition, the department also has three minors for undergraduates: 1) Geography 2) Environmental Studies 3) GIS (Geographic Information Science). At the master's level, we offer a Master of Arts in Geography & Environmental Studies and a graduate GIS certificate. Our master's program caters to part and full-time working students with courses in the evenings, and can be taken to supplement current professional goals or make a mid-career shift.
