Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions "...to promote research and teaching on practical moral problems in the professions."

Established in 1976, the Ethics Center’s mission is to educate students as responsible professionals, to reflect on the wider implications of scientific progress, and to contribute to the shaping of technology in accordance with fundamental human values. Its research program focuses on ethics in the life sciences and ethical and societal issues of emerging technologies, with a particular focus on

philosophical and ethical aspects of neuroscience. The Ethics Center is committed to multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research, to projects that combine empirical investigation with conceptual analysis, and to projects that introduce and propagate innovations in teaching. Furthermore, the Ethics Center Library houses the Ethics Codes Collection, a unique collection of ethics codes from all over the world and the Ethics Education Library, a large collection of ethics education materials.

Call for Papers: "Irrationality and the Age of AI"

Conference at the University of Bonn, 18-20 May, 2026

Submission Guidelines for the Conference "Irrationality and the Age of AI: Language, Ethics and the Future of Human Expression"

We invite individual proposals for 20-minute presentations (followed by Q&A) or collective proposals for 2h panels that address one or more of the above themes.

We accept proposals for traditional academic presentations, as well as project/product demonstrations and artistic interventions. We are looking for contributions from established academics, early career researchers, policy specialists, civil society organizations, as well as communicators and artists.
Accepted speakers will be considered for travel and accommodation funding.

Call for Abstracts: 2nd Sawyier Philosophy Conference on Ethics of Technology: Promises and Perils

The Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago is hosting a conference exploring philosophical, ethical, societal, and legal issues related to technology. We invite submissions addressing topics connected to philosophy and ethics of technology broadly construed from a variety of philosophical areas including applied ethics, philosophy of science, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, metaphysics, epistemology, metaphysics, phenomenology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of law, environmental philosophy, and more. We also welcome submissions from science and technology studies, environmental humanities, and other interdisciplinary fields engaging with topics relevant to the conference theme, as well as nontraditional presentation formats such as film and performance art.
