Meadville Lombard Theological School

Meadville Lombard Theological School Meadville Lombard brings out the best in our students so they will be ready to lead the community. Contact us to learn more about our Master's degree programs.

As a Unitarian Universalist identity school, Meadville Lombard welcomes and embraces students from all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds. We educate our students to be bridge-builders and boundary-crossers, who can lead their community--either as ordained ministers or vocational leaders--toward bringing justice, equity, and compassion into practice. Our Contextual Learning model in a low

-residency curriculum allows you to learn where you live and serve, with 3-4 visits to our Chicago campus per year, when you will attend intensive courses and deeply bond with fellow students. Meadville Learning Community will support you not only when you are a student, but also throughout your career as a spiritual community leader.

Start the school year in style with us on August 24 at our 2026 Convocation! This year’s speaker is Sylvester A. Johnson, Professor of Black Studies at where he teaches courses on AI, culture, race, religion, and the societal impact of emerging technology.

AI is a hot-button topic these days, inspiring a range of reactions from outright rejection to enthusiasm over its possibilities. In Sylvester’s Convocation lecture, “AI" Whether You Know it or Not,” he draws on the traditions of liberation theology and public interest technology to argue faith leaders and civic actors can and should engage productively with AI and he proposes actionable strategies to ensure access, ownership, and agency.

We can’t wait to kick off another Meadville Lombard school year filled with discussion, debate, and high-level discussion about issues that matter. Join our live stream on August 24 to hear Sylvester’s talk and welcome a new incoming class to Meadville Lombard!
