“I don’t come to this decision easily,” Pritzker said of the order which goes into effect 5 p.m. Saturday.

Grocery stores, banks, doctors’ offices, gas stations and at-home food delivery services will remain open. Residents can also go outside to exercise.

The governor orders nonessential workers and residents to stay home as COVID-19 cases continue to swell.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Effective Friday, March 13, and continuing through the end of semester, all of Loyola's face-to-face classes will be suspended and transitioning to online courses. The faculty is working to convert to online/virtual instruction so that classes can resume no later than Monday, March 23. Additional details will be communicated directly from the faculty to their students. For more details, visit LUC.edu/coronavirus.

Although there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) at Loyola University Chicago, LUC is taking steps to reduce the spread of this virus.

Effective Friday, March 13, all in-person LUC classes will be suspended & moved to an "online format" through the end of the semester.
• All classes will be moved to online/virtual instruction ASAP (no later than Monday, March 23)
• Final exams will be handled remotely according to the regularly scheduled exam period [April 27–May 2]
