Congratulations to Matthew Smith, PT, DPT, DSc on his recent publication in the Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy titled “Manual therapy across the professional continuum: a comparative analysis of educational, accreditation, and specialty organizations.” Matthew’s research explored the varying uses of term “manual therapy” and the expectations the term invokes across the physical therapy profession. We are incredibly proud to celebrate two NUPTHMS faculty who recently received awards from the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA)! Justin Drogos PT, DPT, NCS won the IPTA Outstanding Academic Educator Award, which recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching PT or PTA students. Carolina Carmona PT, DPT, NCS won the IPTA Societal Impact Award, which recognizes leaders who demonstrate commitment to addressing issues related to societal welfare!
These awards carry significant meaning, and we are so thrilled these very deserving faculty members have received outside recognition! A very heartfelt congratulations to Justin and Carolina!

Clinical educators: help shape the next generation of physical therapists by welcoming a Northwestern DPT student to your team!

We’re seeking six-week Clinical Experience 1 placements for the class of 2029, July 12-August 20, 2027. Dates can be flexible to make hosting feasible.

All practice settings are welcome. We are especially seeking acute care, inpatient and outpatient neuro, pediatrics, and settings where students can work with a mix of patient populations.

If you’re interested, please check with your clinical education coordinator or clinical manager to see whether your team can host one or more students. Then email [email protected] with the number of placements you can offer. For questions, contact [email protected].
