We coach and assist researchers at the University of Chicago who use pathogens, recombinant DNA, hazardous chemicals, and/or radiation hazards. We are staffed with cell biologists, microbiologists, chemists, physics experts, and industrial hygienists and oversee research at the Hyde Park campus and the H.T. Ricketts Laboratory at Argonne National Lab. Whether or not you are part of our University

community, we would like to use this as a forum for discussions of all things related to lab safety and maybe other fun things from time to time. We are excited to share a significant announcement that marks the end of an era and the beginning of a well-deserved retirement. Joe Kanabrocki, a legend in our community and a true champion for research safety, has officially announced his retirement.
For over 16 years, Joe has been an integral part of the University of Chicago, bringing unmatched dedication, expertise, and passion to his role. His impact on UChicago has been immeasurable, leaving an enduring mark on the field of research safety.
