🚆🎮 All Aboard! Earlier this month, 100 game developers, designers, artists and programmers traveled to DePaul’s Loop campus for the inaugural Junction Jam. Many participants from out-of-state arrived in Chicago via Amtrak (jamming along the way!), reinforcing the event’s unique train-inspired theme.

Participants worked in teams and solo, creating a number of games during the 2-day jam that can be played now. The event was co-organized by CDM, Global Game Jam, IGDA Chicago, the Nice Games Alliance, and Amber Waves of Games. We loved bringing Midwest developers together to engage, create, and play!

Last month, the DePaul iD Lab held its third annual AI Camp for high school students in collaboration with Abbott. During the four-week camp, students had the opportunity to connect with professionals and visit leading organizations, gaining a firsthand look at how AI is being applied across different industries. Over the course of the camp, students worked alongside their mentors to develop AI projects. They presented their projects at the final showcase, sharing the solutions they built and reflecting on their learning.

Last week, the School of Computing held its annual Introduction to Engineering camp for high school students. Students learned foundational skills of intelligent systems engineering and applied those skills—including interacting with sensors and motors, prototype design, and programming robots—with hands-on activities in CDM's new CyberLabs.
