Katz Center for Mexican Studies at the University of Chicago The Katz Center promotes scholarship and academic exchange in Mexican studies at the University of Chicago. It is currently directed by Professor Emilio Kourí.

The Katz Center for Mexican Studies at UChicago was founded in 2004 and named in honor of Professor Friedrich Katz, one of the world's leading scholars of Mexican history. Since its creation the Katz Center has fostered intercultural exchanges to foster rich academic scholarship. It aims to enrich Mexican studies by sponsoring academic conferences and public lectures, hosting visiting scholars, an

d coordinating academic exchange programs with Mexican institutions. The Center is perhaps best known for its Mexican Studies Seminar. The Mexican Studies Seminar series invites scholars and professionals from the University of Chicago and beyond to present their work in an informal setting. In this way providing faculty and students the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of Mexico and debate and discuss scholarship on the region from a variety of disciplinary perspectives.
